Rise of the Nuclear "Greens"
Longtime environmental activist and publisher Stewart Brand, recognized that carbon emissions and climate change had started to catalyze a major rethinking among leading environmentalists. As Brand put it in the 2012 documentary, Pandora’s Promise, which explores the conversion of antinuclear activists to the pronuclear side: “The question is often asked, ‘Can you be an environmentalist and be pronuclear?’ I would turn that around and say, ‘In light of climate change, can you be an environmentalist and not be pronuclear?’ ”

Who we Are
Academics, activists, workers, entrepreneurs, environmentalists, investors and plain old concerned citizens who recognize the urgent need
for rapid deep decarbonization of the U.S. economy. We seek to prevent
the premature shutdown of America’s nuclear power plants — our largest
source of carbon-free energy. We are calling upon the Biden
administration to declare a moratorium on premature nuclear plant
closures. On April 15, 2021, we sent the following letter to Biden's Secretary of Energy, Jennifer Granholm:
